I-joist manufacturer Steico AG has appointed Thornbridge Sawmills Ltd as a strategic partner in Scotland.
For Grangemouth-based Thornbridge the appointment represents its first foray into engineered wood products. It will stock a range of standard size Steico joists and studs.
“Customer demand and changing market conditions along with a natural desire to extend our current range of products and services have all been factors in our decision to now offer engineered wood products,” said Bruce Muirhead, managing director of Thornbridge.
He said Steico’s commerical package could give Thornbridge an opportunity to provide a one-stop shop for housebuilders looking for engineered joists, floor decking and hangers. “Furthermore, our existing sawmill operation allows us to offer cut lengths for direct delivery to site.”
“Their [Thornbridge] market knowledge and geographic locations are an added bonus and they share with us the view that, customer service and added value are of paramount importance,” added Steico Ltd managing director Mark Wilson.
