The acquisition would include assets and operations of Baxter’s treatment plan in Arlingon, Washington state, as well as its pole peeling facility in Juliaetta, Idaho.
The two companies have entered into a non-binding letter of intent, with a transaction subject to completion of satisfactory due diligence. If finalised, a deal would be closed by the end of February, 2007.
Baxter’s timber pole product sales were US$30m for the year ending December 31, 2005.
