The document contains a new structure to sustainability reporting and key stakeholders, including customers and investors, gain visibility.
For the first time Stora Enso is reporting its performance against a set of sustainability targets. Highlights from 2005 include the systematic introduction of sustainability into traditional business activities such as risk management and supply chain management processes – and considerable progress has been made in corporate social responsibility unit implementation.
The company has also seen a 16.5% reduction of lost-time accidents in safety performance, plus good progress in its overall environmental performance, for instance a 12% reduction of waste to landfill.
The report also looks at concerns raised by stakeholders – such as the sustainability of Stora Enso’s wood sources and how the group operates in emerging markets.
