Stora Enso Timber is to acquire a sawmilling company in north-east Poland.
Centrum Dystrybucji i Obróbki Drewna Sp, based in Swietajno, produces 30,000m3 of sawn timber a year, of which a significant part is added value.
The purchase will be Stora Enso’s second Polish mill, the other being the Murow mill in southern Poland, acquired in December, 2006.
“Poland and especially the north-east offer a very good supply of raw materials and high quality sawlogs,” said Peter Kickinger, Stora Enso Timber’s executive vice-president.
“The acquisition of this sawmill is an important step forward for Stora Enso Timber in Poland and creates a good basis for further development in this growing market area.”
