Terence Mallinson, sponsors’ chairman for the Timber Industry Awards, congratulated the forestry and timber industry for getting behind the awards, which recognise the use of wood in construction projects.

Speaking at the TIA presentation last week (TTJ November 3), he said: ‘All the people in this chain of supply have supported these awards’.

The 19 sponsors for the competition were The Worshipful Company of Carpenters, wood. for good, TTF, American Hardwood Export Council, English Heritage, Malaysian Timber Council, Ghana Timber Export Development Board, Forestry Commission, UK Forest Products Association, Wood Machinery Suppliers Association, City & Guilds of London Institute, Historic Scotland, Timber Frame Industries Association, Centre for Timber Technology and Construction (BRE), Joinery Managers Assocation, Institute of Carpenters, Timber Decking Association, Forest Industry Development Council and Royal Institute of British Architects.

  • AHEC scored a triumph at the awards in which American hardwoods figured in no fewer than four of the eight categories. Canterbury Cathedral Education Centre, winner of the Major Project which AHEC sponsored, featured American maple along with English oak and Douglas fir.
