A £1.4m family centre has been constructed in the Everton area of Liverpool using a bespoke timber frame system.

Blyth-based Timber Frame Solutions designed, manufactured and erected the 1,000m2 centre, which received funding as part of the government’s Sure Start initiative.

The timber frame system, specified for its sustainability, environmental credentials, insulation and fast build times, comprises external walls of 150mm stud Masonite beams with Paneline and Panelvent sheathing.

Cedar, brickwork and render were used for cladding while the roof consists of prefabricated fink trusses, girder trusses and bracing, with a finish of composite panels.

The centre offers a range of support including healthcare, learning and childcare to around 700 families in the area.
