The Timber Growers Association has identified four priority areas in response to the Scottish Executive’s consultation on the review of the Woodland Grant Scheme (WGS) and Farm Woodland Premium Scheme (FWPS).
The organisation calls for: new targets for timber producing woods on appropriate sites; the FWPS to support increased planting in less favoured areas (LFAs) by the raising of the limit in unimproved LFAs; better incentives to support good woodland management for both native and productive woodland sites; and the restructuring of WGS grant payments.
