Thailand’s environmental minister has called into question the legality of large logs found in Chiang Saen lake.
Praphat Panyachartrak said one log among the 100,000 found in the lake was 150cm in diameter, much bigger than the Forest Industry Organisation’s (FIO) standard logs. He said further checks would clarify whether logs were illegally-felled.
The FIO sold 107,453 logs from its seven northern forest parks to the Archa Land Company, which stored them in the lake.
