The Timber Trade Federation (TTF) has congratulated 37 of its members on passing its Responsible Purchasing Policy (RPP) audit, as it continues its work on promoting environmental best practice.
Environmental due diligence was unanimously voted as mandatory for all member companies at the TTF AGM earlier this year, with the RPP available as a pre-existing model.
Arnold Laver and Co Ltd, T Brewer & Co Ltd, BSW Timber, Danzer UK Ltd, Finnforest UK Ltd, Howarth Timber (Importers) Ltd, Howie Forest Products Ltd, Snows Timber, Medite Europe Ltd, James Latham plc and SCA Timber Supply Ltd are among the firms to have passed the RPP audit.
“The RPP is one of the cornerstones of the timber industry’s commitment to the environment and we are actively encouraging more companies to follow the lead of these pioneering companies,” said TTF chief executive John White.
Mr White has recently completed a round of briefings with MPs regarding Barry Gardiner MP’s Illegally Logged Timber (Prohibition of Sales and Distribution) Bill, which was submitted to the House of Commons in April.
The meetings outlined the TTF’s commitment to European-wide legislation tackling the sale and trade of illegally harvested timber in the EU.
