Tilhill has purchased the forestry and woodland business English Woodlands from the Landscape Group Ltd for an undisclosed sum.
English Woodlands has been involved in forest management and contracting within southern England for more than 50 years. The acquisition adds 18 employees and three offices, at Petworth, Crowborough and Heathfield, to Tilhill.
Matthew Rivers, managing director of Tilhill, said: “Trees and woodland are Tilhill’s core business and such consolidation allows us to further improve our depth of service in southern England and East Anglia, building on our national leadership in this sector.”
The Landscape Group Ltd said forestry had been only a small part of its business and the sale to Tilhill would allow the company to focus on external works, landscape construction and term maintenance markets.
Managing director Simon Stephens said: “We are delighted with the sale and are confident that Tilhill, the market leader in UK forestry management, will provide our many forestry customers with a first class service.”
