About 20 people were injured after timber traders and sawmill workers attacked Bangladeshi government vehicles carrying officials investigating allegations of illegal logging.
A number of vehicles containing members of the environment and forest ministry probe committee were in the Bonorupa area to inspect a sawmill when the incident occurred.
Members of two timber trade associations and tribal groups threw stones at the cars and blocked the road before troops dispersed them, leaving 20 injured.
Traders had earlier formed a 3km-long human chain to publicise their demands, which include the removal of the state minister for forest and environment and introduction of log transportation permits.
