International timber companies are being sought to take part in a video project on the legal timber trade.
The video, which is being co-financed by the government’s UK department for international development, is a joint project between the Centre for International Development and Training at the University of Wolverhampton and the Television Trust for the Environment.
A spokesperson said: “New European legislation on illegal logging has major implications for the import and tracking of illegal timber into European markets. As a result, companies are coming under increasing pressure to guarantee that the forest products they sell are, at least, legally sourced.
“The film will showcase timber companies who are already succeeding in procuring and producing legally sourced timber, and will be specifically aimed at corporate timber sectors in Europe, the US, Japan and China.”
