Online market place the Timber Exchange now has a trade volume equivalent to 9,500 lorries per month, a 170% increase on last year.
The website, run by IHB Internationale Holzboerse, is seeing about 330,000m3 of timber sold monthly, plus about 1.1 million m2 of offers and requests for veneers.
A total of 161,000 visitors were recorded in January and membership is now more than 3,800.
Philipp Matzku, IHB account manager, said: “IHB is becoming more and more a firm part of our customers’ daily agenda.”
