Timber Expo sold to Media 10

12 January 2015

The UK’s only dedicated timber sector show Timber Expo has been acquired by Media 10 which plans to incorporate the event within its inaugural UK Construction Week later this year.

Media 10 CEO Lee Newton, announcing the acquisition on January 12, said Timber Expo would become an “integral part” of UK Construction Week, which consists of nine events – including the Build Show, Grand Designs Live and the Surface and Materials Show – on October 6-11 at Birmingham NEC.

In the new set-up, Timber Expo will extend to a three-day event and move to a new dedicated hall at the NEC, with visitors from the other Construction Week events in adjacent halls able to move between shows.

Radar Communications and BM TRADA, which jointly owned Timber Expo, said Media 10 had the resources to take the event to the next level.

“Timber Expo has grown to become an important fixture on the construction events calendar, with a loyal exhibitor base and a rapidly growing number of visitors at Birmingham,” said Darren Richards, managing director of Radar Communications and Timber Expo.

“The timing is perfect for Timber Expo to come under the wing of one of the UK’s leading event organisations as they will help to expand the show whilst nurturing and respecting the vision and values that we have set in place over the past four years.”

Ambitious Media 10 recently bought the Build Show and in 2012 it acquired 100%Design. It is on the lookout for other opportunities.

The other elements of UK Construction Week are Kitchens & Bathroom Live, Plant & Machinery Live, Energy 2015, Smart Buildings 2015, HVAC 2015 and Civil Expo, attracting a wide range of visitors, including architects & specifiers, jobbing builders, housebuilders, designers, consumers and other construction professionals.
