“Deforestation-free supply chains: From commitments to action” looks at the disclosures from 152 companies around the world. The report, formerly known as the Forest Footprint Disclosure Project, identifies companies that have made the biggest improvements in their sector since last year.

This year Travis Perkins was named the most improved company in Industrials and Autos; SCA was the sector leader in Household & Personal Products; and UPM-Kymmene the sector leader in Materials.

CDP chief executive officer Paul Simpson said companies that regularly responded to CDP’s forest programme were identifying many more opportunities, including securing their supply chain against the risks associated with deforestation and commodity sourcing. This in turn helped to secure shareholder value, he added.

“Different parts of the supply chain are moving at different rates to tackle this issue. What is clear is that leading companies, as identified by CDP, are those that are bringing their supply chains with them on this journey,” Mr Simpson said.
