People in need of housing in Surrey will be going back to school thanks to a £1.8m cross-borough initiative using timber frame technology.
Twenty-three affordable homes using Partnership First‘s Tee-u-Tec prefabricated timber building system are currently being built on the site of the former Ashvale School near Guildford.
Surrey Heath and Guildford borough councils are collaborating on the scheme, with Thames Valley Housing Association as the developer.
The Tee-u-Tec energy-efficient two-, three- and four-bedroom homes are manufactured by Partnerships First’s sister company Torwood in Ipswich.
Torwood’s managing director Christine Jones said official figures reveal that nearly 75% of all Housing Corporation Kickstart units built last year used the Tee-u-Tec system.
