Keith Oates has been appointed chairman of Phaunos Timber Fund, which has already attracted £59m of funding from investment companies such as F&C and Tilney.
The fund is expected to float on the Alternative Investment Market before Christmas.
Phaunos will invest in timber-related companies and will focus its attention on the international market, rather than concentrate on North America like other similar funds.
