Timber product exhibitors at this year’s Glee were united in declaring the show a resounding success.
Visitor numbers for the event, held at Birmingham’s NEC from September 18-20, were slightly up on last year, from 24,761 to 25,124, but the biggest jump was seen in number of overseas visitors, up 17.4% from 2,530 to 2,970.
Just under 1,700 exhibitors attended the show and, for the timber garden product suppliers, the Landscaping hall was the place to be. Market leader Forest Garden‘s head of design and marketing Vicky Barker declared the show to be “the best for four or five years”.
“We have showcased all our new products and we have been busy non-stop,” she said on day two of the show. “We are seeing very good quality visitors – most of our key buyers, plus independent builders merchants,” she added.
First time Glee exhibitor Finnforest was also upbeat about the show, reporting a good level of interest in its new garden “collection”. The company is seeking distributors for the range which is ready to roll out.
Further coverage of Glee will appear in the October 15/22 issue.
