More than 230 people, including many leading architects, have signed up to attend a Finnforest-hosted seminar which will highlight timber in construction.
The event on September 8 will be held at the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion which Finnforest built earlier this year from its Kerto Q LVL.
The guest speaker at “Wood, the natural choice” will be architect John Pringle of PRS (Pringle, Richard Sharratt) who was responsible for the Kerto-constructed Sheffield Winter Gardens. Other speakers are Andrew Lawrence of Arup Research and Developments and Richard Harris of Buro Happold.
Finnforest UK European marketing manager Warren Dudding said: “There is a real requirement to raise the profile of timber as a construction material in the UK, as thus far it is usually seen as a decorative material.
“By highlighting how engineered timber can be used in architecture, we hope to inspire architects and developers in the UK to be more adventurous with their building designs.”
