Timber Trade Federation (TTF) members have been encouraged to learn more about the carbon issue, which is having a growing importance through the building product supply chain.
A TTF “brief” on the issue is now available on the TTF website and gives information on regulation, carbon terminology, such as embodied carbon, operational carbon and whole life carbon, as well as a case study of the Stadthaus in Hackney. It explains and how calculations revealed the total carbon emissions saved by use of the timber structure.
The TTF said carbon was an issue that customers were addressing.
“If they haven’t already done so, they [issues] will be flowing through the supply chain and TTF members need to be able to have the conversations that will follow.
“Our competing building material competitors understand this and, from the research we have done, are much easier to do business with as a result.”
