Six trainees travelled to Sweden last week to take their SCA Timber UK-sponsored Wood Product Knowledge Course test.
Paul Poelstra and Andrew Ireson from SCA Timber UK Ltd, Kurt Coupland and Richard Cousins from Howarth Timber and Dave Taylor and Steve Coxon from Severn Timber were the first to part in the course which started in October last year.
The course, tutored by Jim Coulson of Technology for Timber, is now recognised by the Institute of Wood Science and successful delegates will receive the IWSc Timber Studies Award, a new entry-level qualification for the Institute’s full certificate course.
