Wood. for good and TRADA have joined forces to launch a free training programme for architects and engineers.
Under the new name “wood. for good Educational Programme” it goes beyond continuing professional development (CPD) and covers other forms of training, including work within higher education. Construction clients will be targeted for the first time.
Feedback from engineers on the 2003 series of CPD lectures has been taken into account, and the new programme will offer half-day workshops on topics including modern timber design, serviceability design in timber structures and timber connection design.
Standard CPD lectures for engineers include connection design, timber bridges, conserving structures, and an introduction to eurocodes.
Half-day lectures for schools of architecture and schools of engineering will be added, along with half-day talks on timber frame for construction clients.
Half or full day sessions at the premises of TRADA corporate and wood. for good members will also be held.
In house CPD seminars for architects will cover expanded topics with greater emphasis on specification and detailing. Subjects include timber decking, timber frame design, external timber cladding, wood windows, innovative timber buildings and engineered wood products.
The programme will be promoted on the wood. for good and askTRADA websites which, following a co-operation agreement between the two organisations, will carry direct links between the home pages.
