A training initiative for Ireland’s timber sector has been developed by the Dublin Institute of Technology through its Innovation Services for the Built Environment.

Initially three courses will be provided in 2002 – timber flooring, change management and project management. These are scheduled to be up and running in November and more courses will be developed over the coming months until 12 are provided annually.

The need for industry specific training has been identified by the National Competitiveness Council, Forfás and the Forest Service. The initiative is being guided by the timber industry, through an advisory committee.
