Torwood, the manufacturing arm of social housing developer Partnerships First, is the leading off site manufacturing supplier in the Housing Corporation’s ‘Kickstart’ programme, according to a recent survey.
The company’s Tee-U-Tec timber frame system featured in 13 out of 39 Kickstart projects in 2001/2002. Of 115 units built, 74% were Tee-U-Tec schemes totalling nearly £11.5m.
Christine Jones, managing director customer services for Torwood, said production for Kickstart has involved investment in a purpose-built factory at Ipswich Docks which has a manufacturing capability of around 6,000 units.
She added: “Development of Tee-U-Tec came about in response to specification demands from members of the Amphion Consortium of Registered Social Landlords.
“The nomination of the product on so many Kickstart funded projects has highlighted its many advantaages; it also rewards the ongoing investment in facilities and production techniques by Torwood.”
