Sponsored by the Health & Safety Executive, the initiative is supported by several major developers and organisations like TRA.
The Trojan Horse Project uses pictures of key safety measures attached directly to trial components, such as truss rafters, in the factory with their effectiveness measured by later research on site to find out whether staff had been aware of the messages – and whether they’d had any effect on their behaviour on site.
Early indications are that presenting key safety messages in this way does have an impact. Over 70 site operatives were interviewed in the first stages of the project – with more than three-quarters saying they were aware of the messages and that they’d changed their behaviour as a result.
