TRADA has added a range of new commercial hardwood species to its database as it updates its information on those finding success.

It undertook a market research programme with hardwood suppliers to find out the commercial species gaining popularity and collate technical information on them.

Many of the species come with Forest Stewardship Council or other forms of chain of custody certification said TRADA, although their properties have to date not been well documented.

Garapa, massaranduba, cumaru and ipé have been added to the database, with more than 15 to come over the coming months, as the technical data is collated and checked.
