A three-year research programme has resulted in the publication of a specifier’s guide to seal products for wood floors.
The programme was jointly funded by TRADA Technology Ltd, floor seals manufacturers and the DTI. The new guide – Seals for Timber Floors: A Specification Guide – follows on from TRADA Technology’s Best Practice Guide entitled Sealing Wood Floors.
For the specification guide, tests included abrasion and slip resistance, tendency to discolour or fade, propensity to foam and levelling ability, hardness of film with time, scuff resistance and ease of application.
The tests were carried out on 30 commercially available floor seals, identifying the top 10 products in each test category.
