Timber has been widely used in a Movement for Innovation (M4I) project comprising 10 business “incubator” units at the Bolton Institute.
The two-storey 550m2 building uses 200mm deep TRADIS wall panels and 400mm roof plates manufactured by Excel Building Solutions. External cladding is in plywood and oak timber/slate, while double-glazed, wooden windows complete the appearance of the building.
The £600,000 development, financed by the North West Development Agency, is designed to provide graduate and small- to medium-sized enterprises with premises to help them to develop.
M4I, set up by the Construction Task Force headed by Sir John Egan, identifies projects which eliminate waste and demonstrate improvements in build quality.
