A pan-industry team has highlighted the benefits of working in the timber trade during a careers fair at Edinburgh University.
The October 10 event, attended by about 1,500 students, was the first of three autumn careers events to be attended by the Timber Trade Fedration’s Education, Training and Careers committee.
The team comprised David Parker, of Thomas Mitchell Homes, Graham Blyth of James Jones & Sons, Fiona Angier of ConFor, Peter Condon and Alastair Stupart of Napier University and Eve Dennehy of wood for good.
Penultimate and final year students of architecture and civil and environmental engineering were invited to the stand by e-mail prior to the event and the reponse was said to be “good”.
The committee is also planning a presence at the University of Warwick Technology & Engineering Fair on November 8 and Leeds Careers on Show on November 26-28.
