Three Palgrave Brown employees are already benefiting from the timber engineering company’s success in meeting the requirements for government-funded programmes run by the North Lancs Training Group (NLTG).

The recognition by NLTG means that any Palgrave Brown employee under the age of 25 attracts free government funding and employees can enrol on NVQ and modern apprenticeship courses in subjects such as woodworking, joinery, machinery and customer service administration.

Since gaining the award, three Palgrave Brown employees are already on NVQ courses, and a further five are about to enrol. “As a company, we constantly invest in new technology and machinery, but it’s essential we also have skilled labour to produce the quality we require,” said Chris Jeffrey, general manager for Palgrave Brown’s Brinscall site. “Technological advancements have been fantastic for manufacturers but companies must also put people skills into the industry.”
