“The Principles of Using Woods for Shelter”, written by Forestry Research, analyses the ways in which woods work to reduce the undesirable effects of wind.
The document, available as a PDF on the Forestry Commission’s website, says the porosity, height and length of woods can affect their ability to provide shelter.
