A meeting at a major Irish woodworking exhibition led furniture manufacturer Andy Ryan to install a Kundig triple belt sander at his Co Wexford factory.
Andrew Ryan Traditional and Modern Furntiure Ltd, which was established in a small workshop in 1976 and is now housed in a large, modern unit and showroom, manufactures bespoke kitchens and other furniture.
Mr Ryan said: ‘To make good furniture you need to employ and train a skilled and dedicated workforce and provide them with the best available machines, materials and equipment.’
Mr Ryan chose the top of the range Kundig ‘Triplex’ wide-belt sander after the meeting at the exhibition and a subsequent visit to Kundig’s head office and factory in Wetzikon, Switzerland.
The triple-belt machine with fully computerised CNC control has ‘revolutionised the business’.
Mr Ryan said: ‘Our calibrating results are much better than we had ever achieved with our previous twin-belt machines and we’re also saving on replacement belts.’
