London-based Ecochoice displayed some of its products, including FSC-certified clozenia, on the joint stand at the Flood and Coastal Management Conference at the University of York.
EcoChoice director Mike Bekin said he talked to some of the 400 delegates about trying alternatives to greenheart for floor defence projects.
“People seem to be stuck in their ways in terms of buying greenheart,” said Mr Bekin. “It puts such a pressure on the Guyanese forests and suppliers.
“There are other opprtunities apart from greenheart which are FSC-certified for flood defences.”
The conference attracts exhibitors and delegates from local and central government, flood and coastal defence operating authorities, consultancies, industry, environmental charities and NGOs.
