The privately-owned group of two sawmills produced whitewood products concentrating on TR26 products for roof truss fabrication and CLS sections for timber frame manufacturers and merchants.
The UK was one of the company’s key markets and it supplied among others Crown Timber. Crown said it had shipped only small volumes of TR26 truss timber and CLS from Havesa this year because of the company’s difficulties.
A spokesperson said the orders comprised about 5% of those products and the company had more than enough product available from other exisiting suppliers to replace it.
Havesa was established in 1986 and later moved operations close to the port of Hamina where it had the capacity to process 250,000m3 of spruce and pine logs. Glulam capacity was 90,000m3.
The company, which had employed 100 staff, went into administration in April, but was unable to restructure and closed this month.
