The countdown to the launch of the Timber Trade Federation Codes of Conduct and Practice is now seriously under way, members of the Bristol Channel and Western Timber Association were told last week.
Speaking at the BCWTA annual dinner, TTF director-general Paul Martin said the codes were on track for an official launch on April 23.
‘A considerable amount of time and money is being spent to market them to the industry’s customers, potential customers and to decision makers,’ he said. ‘But we also need your help in promoting them in the market place.’
He said the codes would give TTF members ‘a direct commercial advantage’ over competitors who do not belong to the Federation.
‘They will be independently verifiable and robustly policed,’ he said. ‘They will differentiate members from the cowboys.’
The BCWTA event attracted 170 people, a 15% increase on the previous year. ‘Next year we should aim for 200,’ said Association vice-chairman Jim Peryer.
The dinner raised money for the TTBS and also made a contribution to the British Heart Foundation in memory of the late Ken Miller of Avon Plywood (TTJ February 9).
