Tulloch Timber (Nairn) Ltd has achieved an Investor in People (IIP) award.
Presenting the award, local MP David Stewart said every one of Tulloch Timber’s 20 employees deserved a pat on the back for the achievement.
The company’s operations director, Tony Mitchell, said the mainstay of the business was converting Scottish-grown trees into sawn timber for the fencing, pallet, agricultural and building industries in the UK.
He said there had been significant investment including the complete renewal of machinery on the site and, at the commissioning stage of the new sawmills, every member of staff had to learn to operate the new equipment safely and productively to uphold the profitability of the company.
Mr Mitchell added: “Training remains at the heart of the business and full induction programmes have been formally implemented.”
He said the company recognised that staff were the business, which is why it enrolled with IIP, and added: “During the IIP process our staff became fully aware of the commitment to their planned training and development within a company environment that strives to deliver safety, quality, productivity and profitability.
“The company is immensely proud of the ethos we have developed since inception and there has to be all credit to the workforce. This award is in recognition as much for them as for Tulloch Timber (Nairn) Ltd.”
