UK plywood industry enjoys successful annual dinner at The Brewery

3 February 2023

The UK plywood industry converged on central London on January 27 for the second major timber sector event in a day.

About 130 people attended the Plywood Club of London’s annual evening dinner at The Brewery, following on from the London Hardwood Club’s New Year Luncheon less than a mile away at the HAC.

Attendees included panel manufacturers, importers, distributors and logistics companies.

Club president Miles Kember, of Lathams, thanked members and guests for attending and reviewed the club’s activities over the past year, as well as the state of the plywood trade.

He introduced Ian Attwood, managing director of International Plywood, who gave background about International Plywood, how the trade has changed and shared some stories from his time in the plywood industry. He also paid tribute to David Atwood and Scott Golding for their leadership in building up the company.

For the first time, attendees were treated to live music during dinner, with the club deciding to take a break from the normal comedian entertainment.

A princely sum of £2,100 was raised in the charity raffle, augmented by a further £1,000 in the tankard naming auction – thanks to Andy Simpson of Altripan UK Ltd.
