The first edition of the code addresses issues relating to materials, designs and workmanship in residential properties and comes off the back of a “surge in popularity” in the market.

“Capable of long spans, they provide increased design flexibility,” said UKTFA chairman Bryan Woodley.

“Builders like their ease of use and homebuyers enjoy flatter, quieter floors.”

UKTFA added that it is to publish similar guidance for roof and wall structures in the future, with the documents available from the organisation’s website.
