The Rushbrooke-based manufacturer of timber gates, posts and garage doors recently installed a new mill facility and decided to buy the Unicut P to complement existing technology.

"It’s fast, flexible, easy to operate and will reduce timber waste," said managing director Hugo Corrie. "It will help us speed up production and provide a quick response to orders and we also felt secure in the engineering and back-up from Weinig."

The Unicut P is the latest addition to the machinery manufacturer’s range of optimising cross-cuts and is described as ideal for heavy hardwood sections.

It features a powerful feed system and will cut single and multiple piece lengths. It can handle timber widths up to 400mm, cross-sections of 215x120mm and in-going lengths of up to 6300mm. It has a variable pusher speed up to 60m/min.

Suffolk Gates uses FSC-certified Nordic redwood for most softwood products, and iroko for hardwood ranges. But it also makes doors and gates in Accoya modified softwood and other species, including oak, western red cedar, and Douglas fir.
