UPM forestry plantation showcase
12 December 2012UPM has showcased how it manages sustainable forestry plantations during an international conference in Uruguay.
The Finnish forestry company participated in the New Generation Plantation Project conference in Montevideo, also attended by forestry, plantation and sustainability experts from all over the world.
UPM said its plantation management is aligned with the New Generation Plantation Principles in respecting local communities, protecting ecosystems and natural forests, as well as featuring FSC and PEFC certification.
Uruguay is the only country in South America that has increased its area of native forests in the last 20 years.
