The company has installed a Weeke BHX 055 CNC processing centre, a Holzma HPL 250 saw and a Ligmatech ZHR01 return system to work in conjunction with one of its existing Brandt edgebanders.
Urban Myth commercial director Rob Allen said the company tried some test pieces and programs on machinery at Homag UK to make sure new machines were compatible with its software and capable of doing what Urban Myth wanted.
He said machine operators were a bit apprehensive after 15 years of operating the same machinery. But Homag engineers stayed on site until they were confident in running the units.
Mr Allen said the investment had allowed the company to turn its Brandt edgebander from a two-man to a one-man operated machine using the Ligmatech return system.
He said the Holzma saw labels cut panels, which eases processing at the next work station. "It removes the guesswork and leads to increased efficiency and more accurate results," he said.
"When it comes to drilling panels, we’ve increased our capacity and flexibility with the Weeke CNC processor. As a consequence, we now have a lot more options when researching and designing new projects.
"Before we would have had to drill the products in several stages, now we can put the panel in one end of the machine and, when it comes out, 99% of the time it doesn’t have to be touched again which really improves productivity."
Mr Allen said Urban Myth was now in discussion with Homag about upgrading one of its edegbanders.
