A grant programme set up by the US National Tree Trust (NTT) is helping hundreds of community groups plant trees to improve public land in urban and rural settings.
The Community Tree Planting grant programme provides one-year old bare-root saplings for planting in locations including city parks, wetlands, wildlife refuges and school yards.
Seedling stock is donated by sponsors from the forest products industry, while the NTT also buys non-timber species from commercial nurseries.
