Vandecasteele said the strategic acquisition of stock fitted perfectly with its aims of legal and sustainable timber supply. It is now inviting all previous Precious Woods customers to deal with Vandecasteele representatives on future orders and enquiries.
The move follows Precious Woods Holding Ltd’s recent decision to reorganise sales and marketing of its Brazilian timber products.
Starting last month and continuing in December, Precious Woods says its distribution of Brazilian timber will be reorganised in worldwide direct marketing – aligning with its existing marketing concept for African timber products produced in Gabon.
This involves closing the Precious Woods Europe BV facility near Gouda because of the “continuous difficult economic environment”, particularly in the Benelux countries.
“As of the second quarter 2013, the production in Brazil has been gradually aligned with international market requirements to enable the move towards worldwide direct marketing and distribution,” Precious Woods said.
Products will be directly marketed and distributed from its location in Itacoatiara, Brazil to importers and processors across the world.
The sawmill production lines of Precious Woods Amazon have been modernised, drying capacities significantly expanded and further processing capabilities extended.
“With these changes, Precious Woods Amazon has created the foundation for an attractive, sustainably produced and FSC-certified product range,” it said.
