VIDA has announced its intention to add Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood to its existing PEFC certification.
The sawmilling group said it had until now focused solely on PEFC certification, as PEFC was the largest scheme for small and medium-sized forestry.
Offering FSC-certified timber would, it said, enable the group to better meet market requirements and create a better outlet for VIDA products.
“The two systems are really two different ways of saying the same thing – that the sustainable use of forests is important for the environment and our impact on the climate,” VIDA said.
Forest owners who choose to have have their forests both PEFC and FSC certified will receive a SKr20/m³ FUB premium for sawlogs.
