The Sieglinde Vollmer Foundation, named after the founder’s daughter, who is a board member, now owns 80% of Vollmer Werke’s shares, with the remaining 20% owned by the Vollmer family.
“I decided to establish the foundation in order that Vollmer Werke will continue to be managed into the future as my father would have wished and more than anything that the employees will have long-term and secure perspectives within our company,” said Ms Vollmer.
Sieglinde Vollmer joined the company in 1962 and took over its management a few years later. She was the main shareholder until the foundation’s establishment.
The foundation’s non-commercial goals include the support of local charities and fostering the training and education of young people, as well as those studying engineering and business management.
Meanwhile, Vollmer has expanded to open its 11th branch, situated in Bangalore, India.
Vollmer sales director Jürgen Hauger said the formation of Vollmer India was a sign of the company strengthening its position in the Asian market for tool sharpening and eroding machines.
