A wildfire which has so far consumed more than 55,000 acres of densely-forested wilderness in Washington state’s north Cascades is heading towards the Canadian border fuelled by strong winds.
Fire officials say there is little they can do to stop the blaze, which was started by lightning on June 29. The fire can reportedly be seen from space and is helping to create strong winds in advance of the flames.
