Vancouver-based West Fraser Timber Co Ltd has announced further production cuts in response to continuing “extremely weak demand”.
Cutbacks will take the form of shutdowns of one to two weeks at seven sawmills and are scheduled to start on March 16.
Output is expected to be reduced by about 44 million board feet and 1,160 employees will be affected.
