Weyerhaeuser has pledged C$40,000 in cash and products for families affected by destructive wildfires across the interior of British Columbia.
John Robertson, the company’s general manager (sales and marketing) in fire-affected Kamloops, said: “We still do not know the extent of the damage. But we do know that homes and barns will need to be rebuilt, and this will take money and it will take lumber. As a major employer, we want to play a role in this rebuilding effort.”
Weyerhaeuser will work with the North Thompson Relief Fund in the coming weeks to determine how to allocate its aid. Company employees are also donating money to the fund, while others are assisting firefighters to contain the blazes.
