Weyerhaeuser‘s Chemainus sawmill on Vancouver Island has won top honours at the National Awards of Excellence in Disability Management for the second time.

The awards recognise organisations and individuals who have championed disability management.

Disability management committee member Hank Busscher said: “Once people are off work for a while it can be hard to come back, but this programme benefits both the mill and the employees.

“Often the work itself can gradually be used as physical therapy, so people fit right back into their group and the mill is not down an employee.”
