There are 70 entries for the new furniture category, introduced this year, and the remaining projects, entered in four categories, represent a record number since the awards were re-launched four years ago.

“This proves that wood’s renaissance is well established,” said Charles Trevor, managing director of Wood for Good, one of the awards sponsors.

“Architects and designers are creating more and more beautiful buildings with this most sustainable of all building materials.”

David Venables, European director of another sponsor, The American Hardwood Export Council, said the continuing high level of entries every year demonstrated beyond doubt that wood wa now well established as a modern construction material.

Other major sponsors are the Forestry Commission and the Carpenters’ Company.

The awards shortlist will be unveiled at 100% Detail at Earls Court on September 21 and the winners announced on October 18.
